HDMI Modulator | QAM RF Coax Output - Full HD up to 1080P - 1,4,8 Channel
Thunder-2 (2-Channel HDMI Digital RF Modulator)
The Thunder-2 (2-Channel HDMI Digital RF Modulator) is a unique, all-in-one broadcast solution designed for flexible video distribution over both coaxial CATV networks and IP Ethernet networks. It features two independent HDMI inputs and simultaneously generates a single RF carrier along with two IPTV multicast streams, making it an extremely versatile platform for modern video systems.
Each HDMI input is encoded internally using MPEG-2 and the two programs are multiplexed onto a single RF channel in Full HD resolution up to 1080p. The RF output supports QAM 64/256 (DVB-C Annex B) for cable television systems or ATSC (8VSB) for over-the-air distribution, allowing the unit to generate one clean CATV or ATSC channel carrying both programs. This design simplifies channel planning while maintaining broadcast-grade signal quality.
In addition to RF output, the Thunder-2 simultaneously provides IP video streaming over Ethernet via its RJ-45 network interface. Each program can be accessed as UDP or RTP multicast or unicast streams, enabling seamless integration into IPTV systems. This dual-output architecture makes the unit ideal for installations where coaxial infrastructure is partially available—or not available at all. Video can be distributed over coax where CATV wiring exists, or over IP networks where Ethernet is preferred. For IP-only deployments, decoding can be done using an IP-to-HDMI decoder such as the H-STB-IP, providing a complete end-to-end solution.
The Thunder-2 supports a wide range of video sources, including set-top boxes, satellite receivers, CCTV cameras, and antenna-based systems. Its RF output is compatible with virtually any TV or set-top box, and because all major RF standards are built in, the unit can be deployed worldwide in a true plug-and-play configuration.
With its modular architecture, flexible configuration, and high reliability, the Thunder-2 delivers professional broadcast performance in a compact and cost-effective platform. While it is related to Thor’s popular H-1 / H-2 / H-4 HDMI-QAM-IPLL product line, the Thunder-2 is positioned as a more economical solution, offering CATV RF and IPTV outputs with each program handled independently while maintaining excellent performance and system flexibility.
